High Altitude Balloon Project

Dream big with us & be part of an attempt to break a world record! As part of our ongoing efforts to inspire, develop, and promote aerospace within our communities, Civil Air Patrol cadets within the Henderson Composite Squadron, Nevada Wing are attempting to launch a high-altitude balloon to over 200,000 feet and set a new world record, which currently stands at 174,000 feet.

The mission of Civil Air Patrol is to support America’s communities with emergency services, cadet programs, and aerospace education with the vision to build our nation’s finest force of citizen volunteers performing Missions for America while developing youth leadership.

We invite you to be part of our once in a lifetime adventure! Your donation will aid us in helping to solve the aeronautical and physics problems of getting the balloon and instrumentation payload to its ultimate height and seeing a successful launch.

Our first test flight reached 52,000 feet, and the purpose of our second test flight was to test our telemetry equipment. Our record breaking goal will always be 200,000 feet and each launch builds upon the foundation of aerospace education for our cadets. Your contribution gets us closer to our goal, and to our “High-Altitude” adventure.
